Amy is setting up [info]twicetoldfandom, an incredibly cool idea for a 'thon wherein writers are assigned pieces of art and have to come up with a story revolving around it. Except -- here's the twist -- each piece of art will be assigned to two (at least) writers, the idea being to see how many different stories each picture provokes, and how different writers are inspired in different ways.

At the moment, she's just polling to gauge general interest, but she'll need writers and artists, so if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, go check it out, by all means.

I am rather stressed this weekend, because it's finals time, I've got two papers to write and cumulative exam to study for, and I've just started my period so I'm all hormoney and anxious anyway. On the bright side, I have The Hitcher on DVD, because, yay! Stupid slasher movie with Sean Bean! What's not awesome there? And as soon as I've got at least one of these two papers written, I shall watch it. Probably tomorrow night, because with finals this week, I've got no classes on Monday.

I might get drunk, too. Or I might save that for after exams.

So, first of all, the chili I made yesterday? I WIN AT CHILI. \o/ God, it was so indescribably delicious, you guys, seriously, especially considering I was just using cheap ingredients bought at the grocery store and whatever I had at home.

For future reference: when browning the meat beforehand, cook it in olive oil, a third cup of rum, and a bunch of spices, whatever ones you like, then let it sit, covered, in the runoff, while you make the rest, and add it last. Also, add about a third a cup of rum and the juice of a lime to the meatless mixture. And again with the whatever spices you want. I'm a big advocate of seasonings. And since my wussy parents were gone, my brother and I could make it as spicy as we wanted.

SO DELICIOUS.

  1. The air pressure seems to have changed, because I woke up with a massive headache and it's cloudy and rain looks to be threatening where yesterday it was bright and sunny. Fucking migraine.

  2. A story which started out as a cracktastic PWP set during a zombiepocalypse is now turning into srs bzns fic. FAIL.

  3. I need an icon overhaul. Also, hm, I seem to recall my paid account expiring this month. I need to check on that and renew it.

  4. I keep re-reading BtVS 8x3. OH MY GOD IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY YOU GUYS. This is exactly what I could've hoped canon would be. Well, no, not exactly; Anya would still be alive if it were, but still.

  5. Less than three weeks until I go to England! :D I need to decide exactly what I'm going to do. I know I'm going out Bath way for at least a few days to see [info]thedivinegoat and family (YAY I GET TO SEE THE KIDS AGAIN!) and there are lots of people in London I want to visit. Basically, if you're in the UK and would like me to visit, comment or email (or AIM, but I'm rarely on that because I fail at life) and we'll work it out. \o/

  6. The novel is largely on hold for finals. While I know this is best for my sanity, I'm also reaching the point where I just want to be done with it. Hmph.

  7. The Queen is in Virginia! This is because we are coming up on the 400th anniversary of Jamestown's founding. I admit I am ridiculously proud of my little colony. Fuck the Pilgrims, man. It's all about Jamestown. It may have been a total deathtrap, but...um...

Give me time, I'll come up with something.

So they've sent out the catalogs for next fall. Cue me running off to Patriot Web to see what classes I still need to take, and then have it sink in that OH MY GOD I CAN GRADUATE NEXT SPRING.

(Next fall, maybe, but it would require me to kill myself cramming classes into summer and fall, and personally I like my mental health just fine the way it is, so.)

YOU GUYS. REAL WORLD. ACK. *flail* I mean, on the one hand I don't want to be in academia anymore, because it's so not my gig, but on the other...REAL WORLD. ACK. BUT I've found a cool-looking, highly-rated, very cheap graduate Museum program in Ontario, and I know the price shouldn't matter but, you know, I've a great deal of anxiety disorders, so it kind of does a lot. So unless I find something really good right off the bat (HA YEAH RIGHT) I might go for that.

But my favorite teacher, the one who did Caribbean last semester, is teaching one of the classes I'm planning on, so I think Paul Gross Arms are called for. \o/ She is made of awesome. I'm also considering taking History of Medicine, which. AWESOME.

God, I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with this paper. It's not even an actual research paper! It's an essay, in which I get to actually give my personal opinion! Unfortunately academia has already sucked all my creativity out of me, so when asked to write a non-fiction essay giving my opinion I go 'Wait, but -- but -- that's not quantifiable! And how should I cite myself? What if I'm wrong? ACADEMIA HAS TOLD ME THAT MY OPINION IS WORTHLESS, WHY DO YOU WANT IT YOU ARE GOING TO EAT MY BRAIN AREN'T YOU.'

At this rate I'm never going to get to watch the new Who. Or anything else, because I will be stuck here staring at this paper for the rest of eternity. RARGH.
